BLT Sandwiches in Cooking Class

One of our Cooking Classes led by staff member, Edith “Plummy” Chase was recently hard at work learning how to make BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato) sandwiches in one of the house kitchens. New skills such as cooking and learning how to navigate internships may be intimidating for our students, although staff is always at hand to help everyone surmount the “fear factor.”

Alumni Splash College Experience

Alumni Splash Fest at the Guilderland YMCA Pool

The Alumni Activities Club packed themselves in a vehicle to go to the swimming pool at the Guilderland YMCA. I am sure we would all agree there is no better way to rage against winter than go into a heated swimming pool and hot tub. This is definitely one of the most popular locations for the Alumni Activities Club and our first time visiting since the beginning of 2020.

College Experience Aladdin Broadway

Alumni Adventure Seeing Aladdin on Broadway

On the date of Saturday, February 1, 2020, three alumni from the College Experience set off on a road and train trip with their Media and Activities Liaison all the way to New York City. Staff drove everyone from Albany to the Poughkeepsie Train Station. Upon our arrival, we painted the town red with an entire day of fun and Broadway magic.

Dr. Phil College Experience

Dr. Phil Episode Successfully Pitched

On Wednesday, January 8, 2020 Jesse sent a producer for the Dr. Phil Show a letter about David’s story and asked for help for his friend who had an estimated few more years to live with this self-destructive path of food addiction. The pitch was promptly accepted with the producers making arrangements for David, his family, and Jesse to travel to Hollywood, CA to meet for the first time in person on the show!

Students Go Green Albany City Dump

Students Learn to Go Green

he College Experience cares deeply about environmental issues and always encourages the students to recycle in their houses by separating items of trash. We want our students to go off into the world and reduce their carbon footprint as much as possible. On that note, one of the many trips we took into the community over the past few months was an excursion to the Albany City Dump.
