Family Cook Nights are one of the many ways students are able to unwind after a day of classes while enhancing their socialization with peers. Students work together on an eclectic selection of recipes and eventually enjoy the fruits of their labors when the recipe is completed.
On the frigid morning of Thursday, January 10, 2019 the staff and individuals of Living Resources, Inc. piled into vans, cars, and buses to participate in the #bFair2DirectCare movement at the New York State Capitol.
On Saturday, January 12, 2019 the Alumni Activities Club traveled to Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. During the visit the alumni explored the enormous casino independently with staff being only a phone call away in case assistance was needed or they desired staff to be a part of some of their activities.
The College Experience held its annual Holiday Celebration at Juniors Bar and Grill on the date of Friday, December 28, 2018, where we gathered to celebrate what remains of an incredible calendar year.
On the date of Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM we had a special visitor come from the NY Alliance Group. Katie Mayo led everybody in attendance in a legislative advocacy training session where we learned some valuable skills on how to advocate for common issues that affect those in the disability community.
Our CEO, Fred Erlich as well as the Media and Activities Liaison, Jesse Saperstein had the chance to participate in a wonderful event at the Schenectady Jewish Community Center (JCC) located in Niskayuna, NY. Fred and Jesse spoke about the innovative programs within Living Resources, Inc., with a particular focus on the College Experience and its new partnership with Schenectady Community College, CareerNext.
Compassion for our loyal and furry, four-legged friends was in-full force on the date of Saturday, December 22, 2018. Destiny, a 2018 alumnus, performed her volunteer work at Kitten Angels and Shannon, a 2017 alumnus, visited the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in hopes of making a difference as a future volunteer.
There is nothing more enjoyable than rocking around the Christmas Tree in one’s own home! The College Experience houses are now decorated with Christmas tinsel and other forms of holiday joy prepared by our resourceful students.
The students within The College Experience are continuing their fun-filled schedule of holiday activities throughout this week and enjoyed a trip to the Crossgates Mall to screen the blockbuster animated film, “The Grinch” on the afternoon of Monday, December 17, 2018.
