The Alumni Activities Club recently welcomed the beginning of summer with a trip to SplashDown Beach in Fishkill, NY and were transported by staff from Albany in an agency van. James, Mia, Bill, and Rob made the most fun out of an oppressive heat wave on Sunday, July 1, 2018 with near-record high temperatures.
On the date of Thursday, June 21, 2018 students of the College Experience navigated the CDTA buses on their own to Joseph Bruno Stadium located in Troy, NY. This night was all about Living Resources, Inc. as the ValleyCats dedicated the night toward supporting our programs, and our CEO Fred Erlich threw out the first pitch dressed as Bruce Springsteen!
On the date of Thursday, June 14, 2018 the Artworks Gallery at Living Resources, Inc. celebrated the accomplishments of our individuals. Plenty of the subjects profiled in the photos are seniors of the College Experience as well as our ambitious alumni.
We are proud to present you with more talent from the Public Speaking Class, which is part of the Summer I curriculum at the College Experience. See footage from David Lieberman who just became an alumnus and will now be in the Transitions Program.
Living Resources, Inc. continues to be proud of the ambitious Sara Lehnert from the 2014-2015 College Experience class. She is a passionate volunteer at Mercy Care for Kids where she is affectionately known as “Miss Sara” and works with preschool aged children.
On Tuesday, June 5th the Legislative Office Building (LOB) in the New York State Capital was transformed into an exotic zoo! There were animals of all breeds, species, and walks of life present in honor of the NYS Animal Advocacy Day. Also manning a booth for their not-for-profit business called Phat Dog, were instructor Fern Pivar and many of our College Experience students.
The Walking Club within the College Experience has started every Wednesday evening now that winter and fickle spring weather have finally relented weeks earlier. The Walking Club is open to all interested students and alumni of the program. The club is lead by staff although students dictate the route and destinations.
On Wednesday, May 30, 2018 the College Experience had its first meeting of the Walking Club this year that meets by one of the student residences and brings students to various parks or even the occasional restaurant that serves as the “carrot-on-the-stick”.
On the afternoon of Monday, May 21, 2018 Assemblymember John T. McDonald III took the time to meet with Jesse Saperstein who serves as the Media and Activities Liaison for the College Experience. He spoke with Jesse about their shared passion of advocating for higher wages on behalf of direct care workers who perform this rewarding, albeit challenging, work.
On the date of Thursday, May 17, 2018 the College Experience staff members, Jennifer Richard and Jesse Saperstein joined their Living Resources, Inc. colleagues for the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge. The annual challenge was held at the Governor Nelson Rockefeller Empire State Plaza on a day with pristine weather!
