Phil Caruso: 40 Years of Award-Winning Feature Film Photos

Veteran film and TV set photographer Phil Caruso, whose credits include work with Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, and Ron Howard, as well as HBO’s new comic historical drama “White House Plumbers,” will discuss his craft at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Hearst Media Center in Colonie. Paul Grondahl, Opalka Endowed Director of the New York State Writers Institute and a Times Union columnist, will interview Caruso on stage.

The event, co-sponsored by the Times Union and the NYS Writers Institute, is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Caruso’s will show images from his four-decade-plus career on such films as “Forrest Gump,” “Casino” and “The Age of Innocence” and discuss his interactions with filmmakers and actors including Robert De Niro, Kathleen Turner, and many more.

One of his most recent assignments, “White House Plumbers” stars Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux as Watergate burglars Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy; the limited series filmed last summer in Albany and the Hudson Valley. Caruso recently shot images during the production of Coppola’s eagerly awaited science fiction film “Megalopolis.”
