Epistemic Injustice: What Does It Mean to be Respected as a “Knower”?
February 24 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
All of us, as social beings, want to be able to give and receive information. But not all people have fair access to this information economy. Sometimes, for instance, a person’s testimony or advice is given less weight because of their race or their gender. When that happens, that is an example of epistemic injustice. This public philosophy conversation will focus on the topic of epistemic injustice — the different forms it takes, it’s causes and origins, and the ways in which we can address it. Please join us for a discussion of this fascinating and important topic!
