At long last…the moment the Alumni Activities Club had been waiting for finally entered our collective realities on Saturday, June 12, 2021. The restrictions had been sufficiently lifted throughout New York State to warrant our first out-of-town Alumni trip in at least fifteen months! Living Resources and the College Experience have been closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the infection rates. The alumni have all been vaccinated, and we knew it was time to venture into the summer we missed out on last year. We are back! It is a testament to the timeless expression, “Tough times do not last. Tough people do!”

The alumni’s request to visit the Walkway Over the Hudson in Poughkeepsie, NY was honored that Saturday as staff drove Mia Carr, David Lieberman, and Rob Corso to the longest foot bridge in the entire world located less than two hours away in Poughkeepsie, NY. Following that adventure, we went to a pizza restaurant located next to the Walkway called Lolita’s. It felt as though we were opening an extremely belated Holiday present that had been waiting patiently for us over many months. The alumni are now in the process of trying to plan a number of trips throughout the summer from Old Orchard Beach, Maine to Atlantic City, New Jersey. The staff cannot guarantee every single one of these trips is going to come to fruition, but we will certainly do our best to listen to the alumni’s ideas.

We were happy to have Rachael Rose who is a 2019 graduate join us. Rachael now lives near her hometown of Poughkeepsie and is a dedicated employee of ACME supermarket in Pleasant Valley, NY. Mia’s mother, Sue also came along for the fun. Parents and alumni living within the region we are traveling will always be welcome on Alumni Activity Adventures!
