Living Resources enjoyed an evening at Joseph Bruno Stadium in which we were their guests of honor. Free tickets were handed out to anyone associated with our agency who requested them in advance or showed up the evening of the game. These tickets were also accessible to any students and alumni from the College Experience if they chose to attend. The first pitch was thrown out by a dedicated Living Resources employee named Brent Masterson! As if that were not incredible enough, all of the free tickets were a gift from our generous friends at CDPHP.

This was one of a handful of nights this summer without any chance of rain. The last time we tried to plan a night like this earlier in the summer, it was impossible to compete with the torrential rain that stopped the game cold in its tracks. We decided to perform a Do-Over, and it worked out perfectly as we cherished one of America’s favorite pastimes over the past hundred years. The ValleyCats mascot of SouthPaw was also on hand to sign autographs and generate home-grown enthusiasm.

We witnessed no cinematic moments such as a ValleyCats player hitting a home run into the lights to win the game as sparks showered down on the field like stardust. But it was still very exciting as the ValleyCats squeezed by toward the very end and declared victory over the guest team. In the words of that Notre Dame coach from the 1993 movie Rudy, “Nobody comes into our house and pushes us around!” We thank our CEO, Elizabeth Martin for helping to pull this together as well as our Development Coordinator, Cathi Butryn for her organizational skills.
