On the evening of Friday, August 9, 2019 the Alumni Activities Club took a trip to Washington Park for a free show offered by the Park Playhouse, which is a publicly and privately funded endeavor to bring free shows to the Capital Region.College Experience Newsies

During the summer months, all the shows take place in Washington Park and in the historic Cohoes Music Hall throughout the rest of the year. The month of August has been reserved for the show, “Newsies,” which was adapted for the stage from the 1992 Disney musical chronicling the famous Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City in which young delivery boys rallied to rage against the outrageous and sudden hike in newspaper costs by Joseph Pulitzer.

College Experience NewsiesThe alumni enjoyed the show and even braved the occasional drizzle from rain that had been affecting the Capital Region on-and-off all week long. Featured in this photograph from front to back is Jessica; staff member, Amanda Allen; Mariah; and Amber.

We thank this wonderful program for giving us the opportunity to enjoy this free and fun event. The actors were extremely talented and served as capable custodians of this particular production. As the summer weeks inch their way into crisp, lukewarm fall…we will do our best to find other ways to enjoy the weather with free or low-cost activities!
