The Alumni got an early start to autumn by embarking on one of the most cherished rituals of the season on Sunday, September 15, 2019. Apple picking at Bowman Orchards was the activity of choice this particular day!

Autumn at Bowman Orchards College ExperienceThe convenience of picking up produce at the nearest Market 32 supermarket cannot possibly compare to the magic of harvesting it yourself from the fruit-bearing trees of fall. Enough apples were picked to last them through October. From left to right is Jose, Nick, and Amber showing off their collection of apples. Rob, Mia, and Bill also came along on the trip.

The party did not stop with apple picking as we all went off to the orchard’s general store and bakery for their famous apple cider donuts as well as various treats.

The Alumni Activities Club is currently brainstorming about other activities to plan that shall compensate for the inevitable phasing out of summer while still enjoying the lukewarm, crisp weather. They are planning a trip to the Headless Horseman Hayrides and Haunted Houses in Ulster Park, NY. Jessica also suggested a trip to the Sleepy Hollow Museum in Tarrytown, NY, and Andrew is advocating for a drive to Ausable Chasm to admire the vibrant foliage.

The staff members who lead the Alumni Activities Club and personally provide transportation for events beyond the community often find it is one of those days when they do not feel like they are at work. In fact, staff are often allowed to cherish in the same passions as the individuals they support!
