On Friday, September 23, 2022 the College Experience packed the vans full of students and took a break from the world of academia to head over to the Colonie Golf and Country Club to represent our program for the Annual Golf Fundraiser. This is the second year in a row the show has been allowed to “go on” as we continue to emerge from the pandemic and welcome back the Old Normal.

Our 2019 alumnus Tor Kronbichler took his usual post as our designated golf pro as each golfer paid $10.00 for the chance to outdrive their ball farther than Tor could propel the dimpled sphere down the green. (Anyone who succeeded was rewarded with “bragging rights” throughout the rest of the day because it is very rare for anyone to outdrive Tor!) The students were also on-hand to mingle with distinguished members of the Albany community whether they be political leaders or news anchors. Many of the people in attendance have been long-haulers with supporting the Living Resources program and are dependable guests for such affairs related to DisABILITY Awareness.

The day culminated with the fruits of a 50/50 auction as well as prizes from the Silent Auction. The gifts were donated by generous businesses in the community who contributed prizes such as visits to a Bed and Breakfast, gourmet wines, and even the chance to enjoy bowling in a local APEX Entertainment Center. The Capital Region boasts an endless well of culture and recreation that were exhibited on the auction table. All of the proceeds went toward augmenting the possibilities of the College Experience. The best part of the entire day is that the weather showed complete mercy during this ideal autumn day that was not too hot nor cold for golf.

Enjoy some of our photos captured during the event. The first photograph is a large swath of our student population followed by Tor in mid-swing. The third photo (from left to right) are alumni Chez, Bridget, and Tor posing alongside Jennifer Richard (Associate Executive Director of Programs); Colleen Dergosits (Director of College Programs) and Kevin Baker (Assistant Director of Residential Services). And finally…the fourth photo shows our students bravely allowing themselves to be interviewed by Kevin Baker about their time in the College Experience that has been filled with more highs than lows. We look forward to seeing what more our students may accomplish with the help of these funds raised during our annual Golf Fundraiser!
