On the date of Friday, September 21, 2018 the fine game of golf and the College Experience joined forces at the Colonie Country Club in Voorheesville, NY. The purpose of the event was to raise funding for our valuable programs and provide necessary resources for the students.
Speaking of our students, they continue to educate us at every turn with their maturity and eloquence. Plenty of the students attended the Golf Tournament and were attentive toward the other golfers while attempting to sink a few holes themselves! One of the highlights of the event was listening to the public oration of our alumnus, David Lieberman who graduated with the Class of 2016-2018. He has continued to make enormous strides within the Albany community and is currently thriving as a bellman at the Albany Marriott. Most recently he had a strong interview at Living Resources, Inc. to become a part-time receptionist. You can watch the footage of David speaking below.
David was followed by his father, Aaron who also delivered an outstanding public oration about his son’s accomplishments over the years as well as what the College Experience means to his family.
Catherine Butryn, who is our Development Coordinator, covered the Golf Tournament and is pleased to announce our winners:
- First Place — Nationwide (Joe Daley, Joe White, Ross Setlow and Anthony Russo)
- Second Place — BBL (Rob Cutro, Mike Platt, Alex Wright, and Jeff Campbell)
- Third Place — Mobile Air Transport (Lee Horton, John Ingemie, Phil Pfeiffengerger)
- Longest Drive Winners — Pat Neary and Jen Richard
- Closest to the Pin — Mike Quaranta and Kathleen Hull
- Putting Contest — Dave Ruthann
We would like to show our appreciation to all the generous donors who made the day both fun and phenomenal. Living Resources, Inc. and the College Experience cannot thrive on government funding alone. The success of our students and other individuals is dependent on private donations as well as fundraisers such as the recent Golf Tournament Our CEO Fred Erlich and Local WNYT/NewsChannel 13 reporter, John Craig served as entertaining emcees for the event.
Many of the attendees tried their luck on the raffle prizes that included donated items such as a gift certificate for a bowling party at Lucky Strikes Social in the Crossgates Mall; passes to the MiSci Museum; a day of free golfing for four people at the Colonie Country Club; and plenty of other gifts. Even the cloudy weather seemed to show reverence for our talented students and allowed for a full day of golfing on the first, official day of crisp autumn.
