Wildlife Walk in the Park
February 28 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Wildlife Walk in Washington Park
Noon to 3 p.m., sign up using this link (registration limited to 25 participants), meet on the Campus Green, just outside the EAC
Do you ever want to get off campus for a little while to chat with a friend or just enjoy nature quietly? Even in the middle of winter during a pandemic, Saint Rose students can walk just a few blocks to enjoy a collection of trees, birds, hills, sculptures and a small lake. Come take a tour of our own 80-acre Washington Park. Thomas Pfeiffer, the longtime former city forester, will talk about the park’s history, how the trees got there and what it takes to balance nature and humans in a city neighborhood. He’ll discuss the treasures and surprises found at the park. Participants may enjoy some hot chocolate and take a quiz for a chance to win a prize. To adhere to COVID precautions, students will keep socially distanced during the walk. There’s a maximum attendance of 25, so don’t hesitate and sign-up using this event registration link. Be sure to dress for cold weather, wear shoes you can do a lot of walking in, and don’t forget your mask.
