Siena Saints Mens Basketball vs. Brown Bears Men’s Basketball
The first Siena Men’s Basketball schedule of the Gerry McNamara Era is now complete. The Saints 31-game regular season docket features 14 home games, with the McNam-era officially tipping off on the opening day of the 2024-25 college basketball season on Monday, Nov. 4 at MVP Arena.
The 2024-25 Siena Men’s Basketball schedule is highlighted by the 14 dates at MVP Arena, featuring four home games apiece on Thursdays and Fridays and three on Sundays. The Saints will be home for the holidays this year, highlighted by a stretch where they play four times at MVP Arena in a five-game span between Dec. 17 – Jan. 5 to bridge the New Year.
The McNam-era then officially tips off with the earliest-ever regular season opener in the program’s more than eight-decade history when the Saints host Ivy League foe Brown on the first day of the college basketball season on Monday, Nov. 4 at MVP Arena. The programs are set to meet for the second straight season and just the third time ever.
Siena concludes the opening week with a trip to Bryant on Friday Nov. 8, before returning home to host American on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at MVP Arena, as the programs match up for the fourth time since 2019.
The battle for the Albany Cup heads across town this season as the Saints make the short trek to the Broadview Center to square off with UAlbany on Saturday, Nov. 16. The rivals will meet for the third straight season in a series which Siena holds a 31-25 all-time advantage, including an 11-8 edge since the rivalry was renewed in 2001.
The Saints next three non-conference games comprise the previously announced Fort Myers Tip-Off, beginning with a campus-site game at Big East foe Xavier on Wednesday, Nov. 20, before heading to Florida for a matchup with Miami (Ohio) on Monday, Nov. 25 and concluding vs. either Jacksonville or Mercer the following day on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Siena wraps up a busy eight-game opening month of November with their third straight neutral site contest featuring the previously announced matchup vs. Bucknell on Saturday, Nov. 30 in Wilkes-Barre Township, Pennsylvania. Tickets to the homecoming for the Scranton native McNamara – as well as new Saint and Wilkes-Barre product Justice Shoats – will go on-sale shortly.
After tipping off December with the MAAC opening weekend in Western New York at Niagara (Dec. 6) and Canisius (Dec. 8), Siena returns to the Capital Region for the first time in five weeks to start a holiday stretch of four home games in a five-game span to bridge the New Year.
The 14th straight installment of the Br. Ed Coughlin Franciscan Cup – which has alternated victors over the past five matchups – returns to MVP Arena when the Saints host sister school St. Bonaventure on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
Siena will also host Holy Cross just prior to the holiday break on Friday, Dec. 20, before wrapping up non-conference action with their lone road game during a five-game stretch when they travel to Cornell on Monday, Dec. 30.
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference previously released the 20-game regular season league schedule in July. The breakdown of the 10 MAAC home games for Siena features four Thursday, three Friday, and three Sunday games at MVP Arena. The 2025 MAAC Basketball Championships return to Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the sixth consecutive year from Tuesday, Mar. 11 through Saturday, Mar. 15.
Led by McNamara, excitement surrounding Siena Basketball is at a fever pitch heading into the upcoming 2024-25 season. McNamara has signed nine scholarship additions to the program who are poised to help lead the Saints back to MAAC Championship contention.
